Englewinds performs honeybee concert for woodwinds and piano featuring the virtuosic Flight of the Bumblebee by Rimsky-Korsakoff, The Bee by Sarah Davol, and other bee-related music by Edwin Avril, Georges Bizzzet, Elise Carter, Kevin Kim, John McMurtery, Monte Morgenstern, and more. A New Jersey beekeeper will talk during the concert about honeybees and how we can help.
NJ's award-winning eco-music ensemble collaborates with NIKKI MANX DANCE PROJECT, NJ's celebrated environmental and socially conscious dance company in an exciting performance of site-specific music and dance. Composition and choreography is based on vine art made from invasive vines collected from nearby Teaneck Creek Conservancy and other environmental themes such as "Combustion" by Gregg Rossetti, "Estuary" by Sarah Davol, "Danza de la Mariposa" (Butterfly Dance) by Valerie Coleman, and more.

The Playhouse, Westminster Choir College at Rider University, Princeton, NJ
Englewinds performs the world premieres of woodwind quintets written by Composition Students of Westminster Choir College of Rider University, and demonstrates to student composers the characteristics of both individual and combined wind writing.
Englewinds presents a virtuosic program, with Rimsky Korsakoff’s Flight of the Bumblebee, Chopin’s The Bees (with jazz arrangement by the ensemble’s star pianist, Tomoko Ohno) a new composition by Ms. Davol: Etude in d minor: The Bee, and Englewinds’ newest commission; a world premiere by Pamela Sklar: Waggle Dance. (Bees perform a “waggle dance” to share information about the direction and distance to patches of flowers yielding nectar and pollen, to water sources, or to new nest-site locations with other members of thecolony.) Other bee-related music by Sunbin Kim, Elise Carter, Guillaume Balay, Scott Joplin, Edward McDowell and Englewinds 2015 Young Composer: Christian Humcke.
